Just yesterday, I was flicking through all of my previous blog posts on here and realised that any time I posted about 'inspiration' or health and happiness, it was always about finding it or that I was feeling down and remedies I have to pick myself up again and some of you found those quite useful which is amazing to hear!
But today I was feeling particularly inspired and happy and really wanted to write down a blog about the good side of things and the 'happy side of life', if you will.
So here goes...
I tend to find that for me personally, feeling happy and inspired stems from what I do with my day. But more importantly - what I CHOOSE to do with my day.
If I wake up and find that I feel like staying in bed for no reason other than pure comfort - my first thought is - stay in bed. (duh!)
But if I do that, what good will come from that? What productivity will happen if I'm in bed all day long?
Sure - staying in bed all day can be an amazing thing - but just not frequently. Because even though for that one moment it may feel like you're delving into a huge cloud of blissful puffiness - think about what you COULD be doing with your day.
As they say, life is short.
So why waste it laying around in bed instead of getting out there and making your own adventures and your own stories to tell.
Below are a few of my favourite things I love doing that really help me feel even more so inspired and just bring me pure bliss :)
ROAD TRIPPING: One of my personal favourite things to do. EVER!
I loooovvveeee road tripping. It's definitely a hidden passion of mine. Especially if we venture to a new place. There's just something about jumping in the car at an ungodly hour and hitting the road with your favourite people tagging along and no idea where you're headed or what adventure you'll come across along the way.
And, yes. It's tempting as hell to break out your iPhone's, tablet's, GPS's and all your other gadgets to check out a town or to get a general direction - but if you want a REAL adventure, put the electronics down!
That brings me to my next point!
BYE BYE ELECTRONIC THINGS: Yup, that's right! Say so long and farewell to all of your electrical devices (no dirty thoughts! ;D) and say welcome back to REAL LIFE! No. I don't mean 'totez IRL! LOL!'
I mean real, real life. As in - the one you had before iPhones were invented.
This sounds weird coming from a blogger whose usual habitat consists of nothing but Apple products, gadgets, and as much internet and electricity as you can find in one persons room. But trust me!
It'll do you some good to get off your butt and give your eyes a well deserved break from a screen.
COOK UP A STORM: And not just cook anything. Try something new and exciting!
EXERCISE: Okay, ok. I know. You're probably thinking 'Exercising is the LAST thing on my mind when i'm feeling like crap! WHAT'S WRONG WIT U!?!'
Don't worry - I always feel and think the same thing. But by me simply making that choice to get up off my butt, put the computer down and pick up some dumbbells instead - it already makes my day that much better. Not only do you release all of those amazing endorphines every exercise junkie talks about that make you all happy inside, but you get a rockin' hot bod' out of it too!
So happy wife mind, happy life!
But you don't have to restrict yourself to those suggested things, of course!
Find something YOU love to do and do it!
This is just a little challenge for you to choose to undertake or not! But if you do, I guarantee you'll feel THAT much better and amazing!
For the next 2 weeks/14 days, I want you to:
1) Wake up every morning before 9am.
Waking up early and starting your day with a big cup of <insert whatever you drink here> can be a great way to help pick up your mood already!
It may feel like you've just entered through the gates of hell when you get out of your warm, cosy bed and step onto the freezing cold tiles in the bathroom - but take some time and wake up a bit. Then maybe have a shower and get ready to start your wonderful day ahead!
2) Choose to do AT LEAST 2 positive things for yourself, 3 positive things for other people (Can be anything from helping someone carry a bag to cooking your family dinner and giving Mum a break. Anything helpful or just plain ol' nice for someone else!)
Doing something positive for yourself is always a rewarding thing. Try and do something for your mind such as reading a book, writing or even drawing. Keeping your mind happy is the ultimate trick to happiness I think :)
But remember to pass it forward and do some good deeds for others. Keeping in mind that some times the smallest things can mean the most to people. I know if I just do the washing up my Mum thinks a miracle has happened! ;)
3) Exercise for a minimum of 20 minutes.
As I said before. Exercise gives you the best natural high. You'll be happy AND start your health journey to being a better you all 'round!
4) Give yourself and someone else at least 1 compliment.
Sound weird right? Complimenting yourself, haha. But it really does work! We're so quick to find the bad parts about ourselves but instantly struggle to find some of our good qualities. So a little reminder here and there that we're not so bad can be a good thing! (Just don't go getting all big headed on me, ok! ;P)
And complimenting someone else is always a great thing! You can make someone elses entire day just by saying a few simple kind words. Try it :)
5) For every day you do the challenge - write down in a diary how you feel on that day and what you did.
Writing is already such a great tool when you're in any mood. And there's a few different types of writing to keep you entertained. Creating your own songs or poems can be fun and even just writing down stray thoughts can be great. Keeping in touch with the inner you is such an important thing!
Then, at the end of the 2 weeks, see how you feel and compare your feelings and state of mind from day 1 to day 14! Don't forget to comment below and let me know how you went! :)
